Natural Life® Omega 3 Smart Kids provides essential Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Omega 3 Fatty Acids play a role in brain development and function during the early stages of life. Only limited amounts can be manufactured within the body, therefore we must acquire them from the diet or from supplementation.
What are Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s)?
There are three types of fat: saturated; monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Polyunsaturates - divide into two groups of essential fatty acids (EFAs): omega-3 and omega-6.
There are several types of omega-3 fatty acids. It's the long-chain omega-3s, EPA and DHA, that are very important, and these are the ones found mostly in oily fish.
DHA: is required in high levels in the brain and retina as an essential nutrient to provide for optimal neuronal functioning (learning ability, mental development and visual acuity), in young and old alike.
